Landmannalaugar is a geothermally active region in the Fjallabak Nature Reserve in the highlands of Iceland. Famed for its brilliantly colored rhyolite mountains,  Landmannalaugar forms the northern teminus of the famed hiking trail Laugavegur. The surrounding Laugahraun lava fields were formed by a large eruption in 1477.
